    A tour of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) museum will form part of an upcoming course on the ‘History of Pharmacy and the Pharmaceutical Industry’, to be held between 6 and 8 December 2017.

    On 20 May 2017, John Alan Day MRPharmS, aged 80, of Yate, Bristol. Mr Day registered with the Society in 1959.

  • Deaths: Anverali Mohamedali Alidina Subscription

    On 2 May 2017, Mr Anverali Mohamedali Alidina, aged 69, of Watford, Hertfordshire. Mr Alidina regsitered with the Society in 1972 and left in 2011.

  • Qualified Person: Callum Mackie Subscription

    Callum Mackie MRPharmS, senior quality co-ordinator, GlaxoSmithKline, was added to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Qualified Person (QP) register on 9 May 2017. Having successfully passed the Joint Professional Bodies’ QP viva, he is eligible to be named as a QP on manufacturers’ authorisations.

  • Tribute to Bryan Kirkwood Subscription

    It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of my dear friend, Bryan Kirkwood. I first met him in the early 1980s at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Scottish headquarters in Edinburgh, where he was delivering a lecture during the early days of the College of Pharmacy Practice. It was later I discovered we had attended the same school where Bryan flourished in the classical atmosphere of the Royal High School gaining a medal for excellence in Latin, ancient Greek and mathematics.

    Candidates in the English and Scottish pharmacy board elections will be taking part in a hustings webinar, to be hosted by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society on 16 May 2017. Members wishing to pose a question to candidates can register for the webinar on the RPS website.

  • Deaths: Eric Gammie Subscription

    On 12 April 2017, Mr Eric Gammie MRPharmS, aged 69, of Forres, Moray. Mr Gammie registered with the Society on 21 July 1969.

  • Deaths: Bryan Kirkwood Subscription

    On 25 April 2017, Mr Bryan Kirkwood FRPharmS, aged 85, of Dunfermline, Fife. Mr Kirkwood registered with the Society in 1956 and spent 20 years as a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s statutory committee, retiring from the committee in 2004. For his services to pharmacy, Mr Kirkwood was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 1990.

  • Royal Pharmaceutical Society AGM: 21 June 2017 Subscription

    The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) annual general meeting (AGM) will take place at the RPS’s London headquarters at 66 East Smithfield, London E1W 1AW on Wednesday 21 June 2017. The meeting starts at 6.30pm, and tea and coffee will be served from 6pm for those who arrive early. The meeting will close at around 8pm.
