    SIR, In the article “NHS fraud almost halved” (PJ, January 8, p44) Lord Philip Hunt states that “prescription fraud has been cut by almost 40 per cent”. If this is the case, it implies that the Department of Health was aware of the 100 per cent previously occurring. Why was nothing done about this before? Perhaps I am too simplistic? J. M.
