Registration assessment

GPhC removes option for registration assessments to be re-marked

The option to have pharmacy registration assessments re-marked will be removed from 2017, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has announced.

Instead, the GPhC’s board of assessors has agreed to replace the current system with a five-stage checking process before results are agreed. The first stage will be carried out electronically and the remaining four stages will be done by hand.

The GPhC says this will provide five opportunities to ensure answers have been interpreted correctly. Candidate papers will also be sampled randomly after they have been marked electronically to make sure that the first stage of marking is accurate.

A statement from the GPhC adds that no candidate’s final result has ever been changed as the result of a re-mark.
