Medical device alert: Hospira’s Gemstar pump sets

By News team

Gemstar infusion and transfusion pump sets have been recalled by Hospira because of a potential for under-delivery when these sets are used at flow rate settings of less than 10ml/hour.

Part and lot numbers of affected sets, distributed from November 2009 to June 2010, are detailed in a Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency medical device alert.

Users and suppliers of the sets should follow instructions in the Field Safety Notice (December 2010) to arrange for the return and replacement of the sets.
