On 16 July 2016, Kirit Patel FRPharmS, aged 66, of Croydon, Surrey. Mr Patel registered with the Society in 1974 and was made a Fellow in 2002. He was the co-founder and chief executive of the Day Lewis group, a company consisting of more than 250 pharmacies in the UK, which he set up in 1975 with his brother. Mr Patel also held the position of chair of the National Pharmacy Association between 1999 and 2000 and was appointed to the Small Business Council in 2000. He was elected treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in 2002 and was one of the first people to be awarded RPS Fellowship. Mr Patel was currently vice chair of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee and was awarded an MBE in 2005 for his contributions to pharmacy.
