Do not self-diagnose without getting advice from a pharmacist first

15 November 2016: The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) released survey results highlighting the risks of self-diagnosis online and self-treatment without getting advice from a pharmacist first. Olutayo Arikawe, winner of the RPS I Love My Pharmacist Award, took to the airways on local radio to drive the message home that your local community pharmacist should be the first person you speak to when feeling unwell and before taking medication. Pharmacists Zafar Khan and Neal Patel also featured on the TV station London Live and on ITV’s Good Morning Britain. “Self-diagnosis online is on the rise but we must be careful. Good advice from a pharmacist is vital. Come and talk to us – it could make all the difference to your future health,” says Arikawe.
