The six regional winners of this year’s ‘I Love My Pharmacist’ competition have been announced by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).

The winners are Johnathan Laird (Scotland), Owain Brooks (Wales), Emily Rose (Southern England), Karen Dolphin (London and Kent), Helen Watton (Midlands and East) and David Halliwell (Northern England).

Over the past six weeks, members of the British public have been able to vote for their favourite pharmacist, from a choice of 18 regional finalists, on a website set up by the RPS. The website featured a personal profile for each of the finalists along with examples of how they have demonstrated best practice and provided an invaluable service within their communities.

The competition, which was first run in 2014, aims to recognise pharmacists in Britain who have gone the extra mile for their patients as well as raise public awareness of the expertise and services pharmacies have on offer.

“The awards are a great way of acknowledging the contribution of pharmacists to their local communities,” says Helen Gordon, chief executive of the RPS. “We know that pharmacists are crucial to the health and well-being of people close to their own homes, and these awards are an opportunity to highlight this and to say thank you. Many congratulations to our winners.”

The final leg of the search for Britain’s best-loved pharmacist ends on 3 November 2015 when, after meeting the six regional winners, the judging panel will announce the overall, national champion of ‘I Love My Pharmacist’ 2015.
