Voting for I Love My Pharmacist 2016 now open

Members of the public can now vote for their favourite regional finalist in the I Love My Pharmacist Award 2016.

Public voting to find the regional winners of the 2016 I Love My Pharmacist Award is now open. The I Love My Pharmacist judging panel narrowed down the 67 entries to 23 finalists across six regions in Great Britain. Applicants were judged on a number of criteria, including accounts of how they had used their own initiative to address a need in their community, how improvements in care were shared across their team and at least one tangible patient story highlighting the value of their work within their community.

The regional finalists for 2016 are:

Northern England: Kantilal Agravat; Alistair Gray; Vishika Rabadia; Chris Roberts

London and Kent: Peter Kelly; Zafar Khan; Catherine McKenzie; Esther Wong

Midlands and East: Olutayo Arikawe; Janine Barnes; Mala Khiroya; David de Monteverde-Robb

Southern England and the Channel Islands: Francisco Alvarez; Margaret Hook; Paul Scott-Harris; Leela Terry

Scotland: Sally Arnison; Bernadette Brown; Heather Donaldson; Naseem Sadiq

Wales: Kevin Jones; Jonathan Smith; Kate Thomas

Ash Soni, president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and member of the I Love My Pharmacist Award judging panel, says: “The I Love My Pharmacist Award demonstrates just how vital pharmacists are to every local health service as we showcase and celebrate the many different and vital roles they perform across the NHS. Pharmacists help patients take their medicines better, treat minor ailments and make life-saving interventions, as well as offering many other services.”

After voting closes on 21 July 2016, the pharmacist with the highest number of votes in each region will be named a regional winner. The regional winners will then meet with the judging panel who will decide the 2016 champion.
