    Despite its stolid title, this book is a joy to read. Not only is it written in a lively and approachable style, but it is attractively designed, with the text broken up by some 60 or so minibiographies, many prominently displayed quotations and a plethora of images culled from a wide range of sources. It makes the worthy tomes written by earlier pharmacy historians look distinctly dull.

    On 25 October 2013, former students from Bradford School of Pharmacy held a dinner to celebrate 50 years since graduation. On 26 October, the group revisited Bradford University for a presentation and a short tour held by John Silcock, senior lecturer in pharmacy practice. The gathering was the group’s fifth reunion.

    Birmingham university turned down for five-year MPharm, but four-year course gets green light Subscription

    Students cannot be accepted on to the five-year integrated preregistration MPharm degree at the University of Birmingham, according to the General Pharmaceutical Council. The council agreed that the degree should not progress from step three to step four of the accreditation process following a recommendation from the GPhC accreditation team.
