    University of Lincoln’s planned school of pharmacy appoints head Subscription

    Pharmacist Paul Grassby has been appointed head of the new school of pharmacy at the University of Lincoln, which will open its doors to master of pharmacy students in September 2014. Undergraduate courses will also include a bachelor of science in pharmaceutical sciences, which will start a year earlier in September 2013.

    Lincoln university is planning to open a new school of pharmacy and is working towards taking its first cohort of students by 2014, The Journal has learnt. The school of pharmacy is to be located in a “science and innovation park” being developed in association with Lincolnshire Co-operative.

    The University of Huddersfield’s MPharm course was granted full accreditation this week (12 June 2012) by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Its first group of 53 students is expected to graduate on 16 July 2012, and the university aims to recruit 72 students each year.

    University applications drop 10 per cent in England

    University applications have decreased by almost 10 per cent this year in England — where tuition fees are due to rise — data from the 2012 UCAS applications reveal. In Scotland, where Scottish-domiciled students pay no fees, applications have fallen by 1.5 per cent.
