PPRT: research grant Subscription
The Pharmacy Practice Research Trust is inviting applications for a project to investigate how research principles, use and practice are taught and embedded at undergraduate level.A grant of up to £60,000 is available to fund the research.
NHS fellowships Subscription
The Chief Scientific Officer for the Department of Health, in conjunction with the NHS National Institute for Health Research, is inviting applications for the CSO Healthcare Scientists Research Fellowships 2009–10.There are two fellowships available to fund a doctoral and a postdoctoral research project aimed at improving the quality of patient care.
Information technology award 2010 (entries wanted) Subscription
The 2010 information technology award for pharmacy, sponsored by First DataBank Europe and in association with the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists and the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association, is now open for entries.The award of £2,500 is designed to encourage support and promote IT initiatives and best practice in the use of IT in hospital pharmacy.
National Eczema Society awards Subscription

PPRT studentships Subscription
The Pharmacy Practice Research Trust, through the Economic and Social Research Council Collaborative PhD studentship funding scheme, has a studentship available with Aston University. The PhD, “A mixed methods study of the implications for pharmacy policy and practice of self-tests for signs of serious illness”, will begin in October 2009.
Student bursary Subscription
Teva UK has announced its student bursary scheme for 2009.The scheme is open to any home UK student who is either already attending or who has been offered a place on any full-time UK-based undergraduate course approved by a school of pharmacy.Bursaries are offered to students who have financial difficulties.
Healthcare fellowships Subscription
Nominations are invited for the Commonwealth Fund’s 2010–11 Harkness Fellowships in Health Care Policy and Practice, in collaboration with the Nuffield Trust.Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in health policy issues, and propose a study aimed at promoting a high performing healthcare system with improved access, quality and efficiency.
Excellence in oncology Subscription
Oncology healthcare professionals, patients, professional associations and charities are invited to submit their applications for the 2009 Excellence in Oncology Awards.The awards recognise and reward best practice in oncology management, education and patient care across the UK, and are open to individuals or teams involved in oncology-related patient support.
