A new strategic partnership has been agreed between the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon (OPL).

The partnership means that the two bodies have agreed to exchange information and resources, and to collaborate on shared objectives. As currently envisioned, the partnership includes support for research, access to essential guidances and standards, and progression through the Faculty programme, through international membership.

The precise scope of the agreement will be reviewed on an annual basis by representatives of both societies.

“The RPS are internationally renowned for their professional leadership and strength in supporting their pharmacist members, especially through their programmes for career and continuous professional development,” said Georges Sili, president of the OPL.

“We are looking forward to working with the RPS and see this relationship as being widely beneficial to supporting our pharmacists in all sectors throughout Lebanon,” he added.

Mahendra Patel, a member of the RPS English Pharmacy Board, attended the OPL’s annual conference in Beirut on 18 November 2017 to facilitate the signing of the agreement.

“We are grateful to the OPL in recognising the excellent support the RPS provides for its members in the UK,” he said.

“It is intended that this new and exciting partnership may, in the future, allow pharmacists in Lebanon to adopt and benefit from a similar system of support through the OPL.”
