  • Medicines optimisation dashboard Subscription

    NHS England wants to know what pharmacists think of its medicines optimisation dashboard. The dashboard, which was launched in June 2014, is intended to help trusts and clinical commissioning groups focus on how well patients are supported to make the best use of their medicines. Areas highlighted include medicines safety and community pharmacy services. 

  • Incivo and metformin Subscription

    The summary of product characteristics for Incivo (telaprevir; Janssen-Cilag) now states that close monitoring of metformin efficacy and safety is recommended when starting or stopping Incivo in patients receiving metformin. A dose adjustment of metformin may be necessary.      

  • New indication for Eylea Subscription

    Eylea (aflibercept; Bayer) is now indicated for the treatment of patients with visual impairment due to diabetic macular oedema, according to the updated summary of product characteristics.  

  • New pharmacy registration system Subscription

    The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has launched an online tool, MyGPhCpharmacy, for the registration renewal of pharmacy premises. It replaces the paper-based renewal system. The online tool has already been rolled out to pharmacies that have a registration expiry dates from October 2014. Those pharmacies whose renewal registration falls in December 2014 will shortly receive a welcome letter that will explain how to set up user accounts.
