    Independent prescribing by pharmacists and nurses in Wales was given the go-ahead by the Welsh Assembly Government last week. As will be the case in England and Scotland, suitably trained pharmacists in Wales will be able to prescribe any licensed medicine for any condition, with the exception of Controlled Drugs.

    The Government is consulting on changes to the law which from next year will allow individuals to appoint attorneys to make care decisions on their behalf if in the future they lack the mental capacity to make the decisions themselves. This builds on current laws that already allow an appointed person to take care of an individual’s financial affairs.
