Ceftazidime–avibactam is a new cephalosporin and β-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic that received marketing authorization by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in April 2016. Ceftazidime–avibactam has variable activity against non-lactose fermenters including P. aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii, a gram-negative bacteria (micrograph, pictured).
