Telemedicine can generally be categorised into two forms: store-and-forward technology and real-time interactive services

Although no universal definition for of telemedicine exists, telepharmacy can be described as ‘a full service operation that includes prescription medications, remote pharmacists, pharmaceutical utilisation review, patient education and counselling provided to a remote site using a range of technologies’. Whether engaging in telemedicine or telepharmacy, clinical pharmacists are integral members of the healthcare team providing interdisciplinary patient care.
