Adverse drug reaction reporting across Europe exceeded one million last year
The number of adverse drug reactions recorded by EudraVigilance reached more than one million in 2013, the European Medicines Agency announced this week (28 April 2014). EudraVigilance is a web-based system that collects and manages suspected side effects of medicines that are available in European Union states and are regulated by the EMA. The record figure is 26 per cent higher than the previous year. The largest increase came from EU states, which reflects the move to encourage reporting of adverse reactions, the EMA said.
