Dengue fever warning for travellers to Delhi Commonwealth Games

By News team

Travellers to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi have been advised to take 24-hour precautions against mosquito bites after the Health Protection Agency confirmed nine cases of dengue fever in people returning to the UK from the Indian city. The viral infection, spread by the insects, causes severe influenza-like symptoms and in some cases a rash.

There is no specific vaccine or preventive medicine against the virus, the HPA stated.
