DoH funds social enterprise projects

By News team

Additional funding of £10m is to come from the Department ofHealth to enable NHS staff to set up social enterprises, health secretaryAndrew Lansley announced this week.

The funding is intended to support the Government’s “Rightto provide” scheme.

The scheme will enable NHS and care service staff — where itis clinically appropriate — to set up as independent organisations to run theservices they deliver. It is not designed to make it easier for privateproviders to enter the NHS, the DoH said.
