e-Prescribing toolkit for NHS hospitals released

Pharmacists, NHS managers, IT specialists, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and patients can now access the first release of the National Institute for Health Research-funded online electronic-prescribing toolkit for NHS hospitals.

Designed to help hospitals plan, implement and use e-prescribing and medicines administration systems, the toolkit has been developed by researchers from the universities of Edinburgh, Birmingham and Nottingham, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Harvard School of Public Health.

It contains background information on e-prescribing, links to news sources and relevant websites, documents, journal and book references and case studies, and will be updated quarterly to ensure it remains up to date.
