National Pharmacy Association appoints new chairman
Ian Strachan, owner of Strachans Chemist, a small group of pharmacies in North West England, has been appointed chairman of the National Pharmacy Association board, succeeding Bharat Patel.
Priorities for his two-year term include cutting the unnecessary bureaucracy that comes with provision of services in community pharmacy. Strachan says he is against “self selection” of P medicines and that “ring-fencing” certain medicines can help direct patients who need an intervention to the pharmacist. He also believes that automation of services is only appropriate for some community pharmacies.
