New guidance on inflammatory bowel disease published

New guidance for the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been published by the British Society of Gastroenterology (Gut 2011;60:571). The new guidance replaces that published in 2004.

Key changes include the revision of recommendations on the use of immunosuppressants and biologic therapies for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, the management of metabolic bone disease and the care of children with IBD.
