New Company Chemists’ Association chief executive Malcolm Harrison: “I believe we can do more to relieve some of the pressures being felt by the NHS”
The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) has announced the appointment of Malcolm Harrison as its new chief executive.
Harrison, who is a former senior manager at Boots UK and a fellow of the NHS Innovation Accelerator Programme, will be replacing Nanette Kerr, who has been in the position for two and a half years.
“This is a critical time for pharmacy and the NHS. I believe we can do more to relieve some of the pressures being felt by the NHS and ensure healthcare remains accessible and sustainable over the long term,” said Harrison.
“On behalf of the member companies, I look forward to working with all stakeholders in the community pharmacy sector to listen to, understand, and respond to the needs of the NHS and patients.”
“I want to pay tribute to Nanette who has led the CCA so effectively these past several years, in at-times quite challenging circumstances. I look forward to continuing the great work initiated by Nanette and the CCA team, and thank her for her support.”
Harrison will be starting his new role on 5 March 2018, and Kerr will be staying on until 30 March 2018.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the CCA but believe now is the right time to step aside and pass the baton to someone else”, said Kerr.
“I believe Malcolm is the right person to lead the CCA and the sector at this critical time. He will take forward the vision and plans the CCA has for delivering pharmacy and health and wellbeing services in the communities we serve.”
