CPPE foundation course applications now open

Newly qualified pharmacists wanting to develop knowledge and skills in community pharmacy can now apply for the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) foundation course starting in October.

There are 100 places for the 12-month programme, which is linked to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Foundation practice framework.

The course, which is fully funded and free to students, is delivered through a mix of online tutor-supported study, learning activities and support in the workplace through a designated CPPE tutor.

The course involves workplace support and assessment, allowing learning to be applied to everyday practice with the aim of helping newly qualified pharmacists to become capable and competent in their role to ensure quality of care, the CPPE said.

Applications are open until the 13 August 2017 with successful applicants due to be announced on 12 September.

This programme, which starts on 2 October 2017, is open to newly qualified pharmacists working for an independent or small multiple community pharmacy, or locum pharmacists working at least three days a week in community pharmacy.

“We know that qualifying as a pharmacist and starting your first job can be a steep learning curve. That is why we have developed a programme to support you through your first year of practice,” said Clare Smith, senior pharmacist at CPPE.
