D’Arcy has spent a decade with Numark, a virtual chain of independent community pharmacies with a record 3,400 members. His career in pharmacy spans 37 years.
Past roles include chief executive of the community pharmacy organisation the National Pharmacy Association, a position he took up in 1996. He has also been commercial director of the pharmacy chain Rowlands.
In a statement, Numark said that D’Arcy — who has decided to step down as he celebrates his 60th birthday next January — has been ‘hugely influential’ in shaping the Numark business during his time.
The organisation said he ‘championed’ the cause of community pharmacy on a wider scale over the decades, consistently ‘fighting its corner’.
D’Arcy will, however, stay on as Numark chairman for at least another two years after he steps down as managing director, the organisation confirmed.
