European Medicines Agency to host AMR summit

European Medicines Agency

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) will host a summit meeting with doctors’ and patients’ organisations, academics, EU member states and the World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss how collaboration can help tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Jointly run with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the meeting will take place at the EMA’s London offices on 19 September 2017 and it will be broadcast live on its website.

The EMA said the aims of the meeting would be to: raise awareness of the work of EU institutions, member states and the WHO in the fight against AMR; enhance understanding of how the EMA and the ECDC can support the European and global fight against AMR; and discuss how to coordinate efforts on awareness and empowerment of patients, consumers and healthcare professionals.

A report on the meeting will be published on the EMA website.
