Prescription charges

Prescription charges waived for Commonwealth Games athletes and officials

All NHS fees — including prescription charges — are being waived for overseas athletes, team officials, members of the games committees and some members of the media who are involved in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from 7 July until 7 August 2014.

The exemption applies to the treatment of conditions that develop after arrival in the UK or for existing conditions which have become or run the risk of becoming exacerbated.

Health professionals should ask to see a Games Family Accreditation pass as proof that the individual qualifies for the exemption. The exemption does not apply to overseas spectators.
