Consciously incompetent

It's week 2 of my pre-registration training and I'm happy to admit that I'm consciously incompetent. See the GPhC pre-registration manual to see how this state fits into the bigger picture! I've rapidly surpassed 'subconscious incompetence' and can't help thinking that even 'subconscious competence' is a long way off - never mind that moment when I eventually know what I'm doing and become confident of it. My first few days as a pre-reg have allowed me to realise my limitations very quickly - and there are many!  With little practical pharmacy experience outside of university, I think even the simplest of tasks will provide the steepest of learning curves for me. Slightly disheartened today by already having made every dispensing error in the book, I'm sure that things can only get better!
