2013 has been a good year and let’s hope itcontinues to stay this way! I am now past the halfway mark of my pre-reg year, thefirst big hurdle I have come across and can safely say I have now been apre-reg pharmacist for 6 months.
I also recently completed my two week crosssector placement at a community pharmacy where I re-learnt the CD laws, documentation of private POMs, responding to symptoms and emergency supply.Working in a hospital means that these are the things I am not faced with asmuch and this placement is a perfect opportunity to remember what the MPharmdegree taught us.
My next big hurdle was finally completingmy 200-item dispensing log. This was where I had to dispense 200 itemscorrectly; if an error was made at any point, I had to restart from thebeginning. After a few failed attempts, a strict list to follow and muchstressing, I managed it.
Now, I am off to my acute placement. Thisis where I spend four weeks at a larger, general hospital to gain a morerounded idea of hospital pharmacy as the hospital where I currently work issmaller and more specialist. Let’s hope I manage to pick everything up in four weeksbecause the pre-reg exam at the end of June is the biggest hurdle of all!
