I stumbled across a newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic patient recently and was suddenly bewildered. I understand the basics surrounding diabetes, but wondered why the destruction of insulin-producing pancreatic cells actually occurs.

What a day! I can now say that I have presented my research poster at the APS PharmSci conference with 3 of my friends, studying very similar topics in their dissertations.
The only argument for not managing student numbers seems to be to increase quality. I think it's a poor argument.
After a 160 mile round trip, lots of free pens and a panic at the car park ticket machine, I can now say I’ve been to my first RPS conference!
