An e-learning program designed to help pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians in England comply with the responsible pharmacist regulations has been launched by the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education.
Christopher Cutts, director of the CPPE, explained that, because discussions around the regulations are ongoing, the e-learning program might change to reflect the discussions in due course.
“If things do change, then we will let those who have accessed the learning know what has changed,” he said.
He added that pharmacists have a responsibility to update themselves on the changes that will come about with the introduction of the responsible pharmacist regulations on 1 October 2009. “This learning program, together with other recent publications, is the ideal way to ensure [pharmacists and their staff] meet the new requirements,” he said.
The program is accessible via the CPPE’s website and forms part of its Core NHS Services learning theme. It will focus on community pharmacy practice initially with case studies relating to hospital pharmacy added when guidance has been finalised.
