Flu levels trigger antiviral prescribing in Scotland
Influenza levels in Scotland have reached the point at which antiviral drugs can be used.
In a statement issued last week (23 December 2008), Health Protection Scotland said the increased level of influenza it has detected means antiviral drugs can now be used in people who are at higher risk of developing complications from flu.
This is in line with antiviral guidance from NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, which endorses National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidance without amendment.
