The Council

Is the Council necessary?

From Mr P. Robinson, MRPharmS

I read your article, ?How to get yourself elected to Council? (PJ, 5/12 January, p39), with interest. Since the Society is only a ?regulatory body with a remit for professional standard setting? and is not a ?membership organisation?, what is the point of self-regulation at all? It simply becomes a platform where one group of pharmacists exerts power over another. We would be better off doing away with the Council altogether.

Peter Robinson
