Soni was one of the best presidents

I wish to express my concerns regarding us losing one of the best presidents the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has had during my 50 privileged years of being a member and, latterly, a Fellow.

Ash Soni has been extremely helpful to me as chief executive officer of the Kingston and Richmond local pharmaceutical committee (LPC), as well as being extremely supportive of the LPC. He is well known and respected by clinical commissioning groups (having been a past chair of a primary care trust) as well as directors of public health. He is also well known by the other professions that we come into contact with every day and he has represented pharmacy at many meetings. To list his many assets and achievements would take up too many pages, as would my contempt of those who have deprived us of the stature he brought to our profession. It has often been said that the biggest obstacle for the true professional recognition of community pharmacy has been our own undoing. And so here we go again.
