Community pharmacists can now track next step on the Quality Payments Scheme

Pharmacy cross

Community pharmacy contractors are now able to track how well they are progressing for the next review point under the Quality Payments Scheme using PharmOutcomes.

A Quality Payments Scheme framework was created on the PharmOutcomes web page to allow contractors to track their progress with achieving the quality payment criteria for the April 2017 review point. The framework has now been updated for the November 2017 review point.

The framework also contains links to pages on the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee website to provide contractors with extra information on each criterion and links to other PharmOutcomes tools and services to help contractors collate evidence.

For example, PharmOutcomes has an asthma referral tool to assist in meeting the quality criterion. The tool allows pharmacists to record details of patients who have consented to be referred to their GP practice because more than six short-acting bronchodilator inhalers have been dispensed without any corticosteroid inhaler within a six-month period. The tool will also automatically generate a secure email referral to the GP.
