East of England Co-op puts all six pharmacies up for sale

The East of England Co-operative Society is pulling out of community pharmacy in Suffolk and has put all six of its branches up for sale.

The pharmacies – which between them have an annual turnover of £4m – are being offered in the first instance as a group sale, according to specialist agents Hutchings Consultants, which is managing the sale.

Three of the pharmacies are in Ipswich, with a further three in Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Saxmundham.

In a statement, Hutchings said there has already been interest expressed in the purchase and that the pharmacy market in the region is currently “buoyant”.

Luke Williams, senior pharmacy sales consultant at Hutchings, said: “This is due to insufficient pharmacies available to meet the high demand from purchasers.”
