Pharmacists asked to rate AMR campaign

antimicrobial resistance

Community pharmacists in Scotland are being asked to rate the effectiveness of a 2017 campaign designed to increase awareness of antimicrobial resistance via pharmacies.

Participants will be asked if the campaign’s ‘scary bacteria’ image engaged patients and customers; if they thought it contained useful information; and whether they had an increase in the number of patients asking for advice on self-management of infections.

Pharmacists are also being asked for their suggestions on how to engage the public in the European Antibiotic Awareness Day, which takes place annually on 18 November.

The survey is being undertaken on behalf of the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (part of Healthcare Improvement Scotland).

Community pharmacists across Scotland participated in the campaign which aimed to raise awareness around inappropriate use of antibiotics and self-care for illnesses such as coughs and colds.

The survey can be found here.
