Pharmacy regulator canvasses pre-registration tutors

The professional regulator is emailing all tutors who supported a trainee pharmacist during 2013/2014 to invite them to take part in an online survey.
The survey is the latest move by the GPhC in its three-year programme, launched in 2013, to scrutinise the existing pre-registration system and to address any challenges or issues.
In November 2013, 905 trainees who completed their training in 2012/2013 took part in an online survey. The results, published in June 2014, revealed that just under 25% of trainees felt their training had failed to prepare them for their professional role as a pharmacist.
The training on offer was likely to be better in hospital than in community pharmacy and was likely to be worse for trainees who were Asian or non-white, the survey found.
