Death rates from stroke and coronary heart disease fell in Scotland during 2007, according to NHS statistics

Death rates from stroke and coronary heart disease fell in Scotland during 2007, according to NHS statistics.

The data show that in people aged under 75 years, the death rate from stroke fell by 6 per cent from December 2006 to December 2007, and by almost 1 per cent for CHD.

The number of prescriptions dispensed for cardiovascular drugs during this time increased but the cost of these drugs fell.
