A three-year £12m campaign to promote stroke awareness will be launched in February 2009, the Department of Health has announced

A three-year £12m campaign to promote stroke awareness will be launched in February 2009, the Department of Health has announced.

The campaign will centre around the acronym FAST, which stands for face, arm, speech, time to call 999 — as a way to help people recognise the symptoms of stroke and understand that emergency treatment is important.
