Tony Guest
This year's Glastonbury Festival is a wonderful time to remember The Festival Pharmacist, Tony Guest, who passed earlier this year, with love and with humour.
When Tony first ran the pharmacy, almost single handed, in 1997 he had a few trestle tables, some tablet bottles and some left over tablets inherited from the previous incumbents. He resolved then that a) it had to get better, b) it had to be totally professional and c) he had to find some time off to see the Festival . . . . . and maybe get some sleep!
Over the next few years, with professionalism and fun at the forefront in his mind, Tony made lots of friends here and surely made his mark on the Glastonbury Festival.
He gathered a wonderful team around him, running Festival Pharmacy (a 24 hour pharmacy in the medical centre) and Arena Pharmacy (in the market area). The pharmacies were assembled from scratch every year and disassembled a week later after the most wonderful time. RockandRoll Pharmacy was born. The pharmacies passed the most stringent audits and were manned by great pharmacy teams from several specialist fields. The current pharmacies (both FMS and MedMan Pharmacy) would surely acknowledge a debt to the changes Tony made.
Tony's wanted us all to do it well AND to have fun though and my time working at Glastonbury will remain one of the greatest experiences of my life.
Many of Tony's friends will be at Glastonbury this year and others will watch from the wings, but we'll all be united in our memories of the one and only Tony Guest, Glastonbury Festival Pharmacist.

Postscript: I won't be at Glastonbury Festival this year and feel it's time to hang up my Welly Boots! I'd like to thank all my chums who've read my blogs over the years for indulging me.
Perhaps someone else is ready to take over the Rock'and'Roll Pharmacy Blog. That would be lovely and you'd have my blessing.
Signing off.
Jim
