It’s frightening how fast time flies. It feels like only yesterday when I was busy at work and thinking about dreaded pre-reg interviews. But with the penultimate semester nearly over I can see the end in sight.
Discussions with friends give the sentiment of relief as we’re nearing the end. But in some individuals there is a sense of enjoying the time while we’re still here. The forth year has been difficult but not overly. Work has been plentiful but consistent to plan around and time management seems to be more important than ever. Emphasis is placed more on individual effort with critical analysis of topics. I have found this extremely time consuming especially if I do not understand a topic.
Today for example, I was having a look at gene therapy and well, where do you begin? It is my opinion therefore that depending on how critical you are, determines how well you understand something. It’s interesting to think that even though gene therapy may seem like a great way to target diseases such as cystic fibrosis, there are those that feel gene therapy can be more problematic. Even hard science based on research has different perspectives.
I know continued learning is a massive part of being a pharmacist. But I think I’m going to miss all this academic stuff. In a way even the assignments that make us discuss difficult topics haven’t been that difficult (I think secretly I enjoy it). It’s just the unfamiliarity that makes it hard sometimes.
Anyway, it’s not over yet so onwards and upwards!
