New arrangements for accessing pharmaceutics information service
New arrangements for accessing the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's pharmaceutics information service will come into effect from Tuesday 7 May.
The new arrangements bring the service under the umbrella of the Society's technical information service, which provides pharmacy, therapeutics and medicines/drug information.
Areas of expertise covered by the pharmaceutics information service include the application of physical, chemical and biological sciences to the formulation, design, stability, preparation and presentation of dosage forms. The pharmaceutics information service also handles enquiries about pharmaceutical packaging, especially child-resistant packaging.
The service will also be available to non-members, who will be required to pay an appropriate fee for detailed advice.
Roy Allcorn, the Society's Head of Information said: "These arrangements will provide a newly focused service on pharmaceutics. Dr Colin Cable, the Society's fellow in pharmaceutics, will continue to provide an independent problem-solving and advisory service to the profession on matters related to pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology and the practical aspects of pharmacy."
Enquiries about aspects of pharmaceutics should from 7 May be made by calling the technical information service on 020 7572 2302. All questions requiring specialist pharmaceutics input will be forwarded to Dr Cable. Voicemail messages can also be left on the same number outside normal working hours. The e-mail address for pharmaceutics information remains unchanged (email@example.com).
