GPs to refer patients to pharmacists as part of EPiC initiative

Whilst this development is very welcome, the linked website seems bereft of hard details on how the project will operate. If I understand correctly, a GP will carry out the triage activity to direct the patient according to their actual needs. This would seem like a missed opportunity to help cut GP workload at a time when the BMA and LMCs are complaining that they can't meet the PM's promises for 7 day GP services. Community pharmacy provides the ideal accessible triage destination for patients and it makes absolute sense for the referral system to be a two way street to allow pharmacists to refer patients urgently to a GP.
