Head lice: resistance and treatment options


I did not mention oral ivermectin because it is not an approved drug for this condition. Using it on a named patient basis may be possible but dosing is somewhat critical and the concept is not always acceptable to patients. There is some evidence that resistance to permethrin may confer resistance to ivermectin so it would not be a long term option.
