Why patient information leaflets have their place in informing patients about their medicines

PILs for human medicines may not be perfect, but they are years ahead of package leaflets on veterinary medicines. Many community pharmacists now supply veterinary medicines (particularly OTC sales of flea and tick products and wormers). They need to be aware of the limitations of veterinary medicines information and have a key role to play in ensuring these medicines are used safely and effectively.
