The trials and triumphs of pharmacist independent prescribers

Prescribing should become a routine part if community pharmacy. The barriers are plain to see, funding, a designated medical practitioner and the universities themselves. I have heard anecdotally from various pharmacists that have applied for the course at Manchester University, that the team administering the course, deter community pharmacists from applying. I know of at least one applicant that was told that go pharmacists and hospital pharmacists were given priority. There really needs to be a complete overhaul of the course, it's entry requirements and funding available.
