Case-based learning: cough

Do not forget amidst all the concentration on physical causes that a cough can have a semantic meaning, that coughing can convey or transmit meaning. There are the "repressive cough" of the bully in the novel The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat, and a "most malicious cough" in Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The Pharmaceutical Journal took a couple of letters from me mentioning this aspect of coughing.Do look up the "I am 1 in 4" website for more references to this mental health
