How the shortage of preregistration placements should be addressed

If the no of schools of pharmacy keeps increasing (there are now 28 schools of pharmacy in the UK) and the number of pre-registration places do not increase to match, then it does not require a rocket scientist to work out that there will be a large shortage of pre-registration places. It is time to substantially reduce the number of schools of pharmacy. It is an outrage that such a large number of schools of pharmacy have been allowed to come on board without taking into account, the inevitable impact that this would have on pre-registration places and the salaries of qualified Pharmacists and hourly locum rates.
