Deaths: Douglas Davidson

On 1 February 2018, Douglas Davidson FRPharmS, aged 89 years, of Blairgowrie, Perth and Kinross. Mr Davidson registered with the Society in 1951. He was conferred fellowship of the Society in 1989.

Mr Davidson qualified in 1951 and began his career in the family firm of Walter Davidson and Sons. He later chaired the Society’s Dundee and Eastern Scottish branch, and also served as chair of the National Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee for Scotland.

Mr Davidson served on the Society’s Council from 1983 until 1986, and for 13 years chaired the Agricultural and Veterinary Pharmacists’ Group.

In 1992, Davidson received an MBE for services to pharmacy in Scotland and veterinary pharmacy in Europe. In 1994, he was awarded the Society’s Charter silver medal for his contribution to pharmacy in Scotland.
